About Me

Chenoa Bo Kannan
Chenoa Bo Kannan
I am a Year 2 Veterinary Technology diploma student at Temasek Polytechnic. Ever since I was little, I've always loved animals, but it wasn't until the year I obtained my scuba diving license that my interest in aquatic life was sparked. Having experienced the beauty of the underwater world first-hand has developed my interest and love for underwater creatures. Conservation for this underwater habitat has been on my mind since then, so why not incorporate my passion for marine life into this module?
What is Guided Learning?
What is Guided Learning?
Guided Learning is a module that requires students to carry out self-directed learning. Students are required to use the PPMR method: Plan, Perform, Monitor and Reflect. Being a self-directed module, students will have to come up with a project, plan how to execute this project and carry out this project.

There are no scheduled lessons for guided learning. Students have to arrange consultation sessions with their learning facilitator and should have a minimum of 4 consultations for each stage of the PPMR stages.

Guided learning is a 3 CU pass/fail fundamental subject and it comprises of 3 components: Refined Proposal, e-Portfolio and Reflection Interview.

About this Project
About this Project

With the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) 14 in mind, this project was created. The UNSDG 14 is Life Below Water and it's goal is to "conserve and sustainably use oceans, seas and marine resources". Marine and coastal biodiversity is important and over three billion people depend on this biodiversity. Furthermore, coastal eutrophication is expected to continue to increase if nothing is done.

This project aims to reduce human waste pollution of water bodies by using left-over products from sugar production, known as bagasse, to deactivate the bacteria found in faeces. The combination of the deactivated human faeces and bagasse can be used as fertiliser. This would reduce open defecation and dumping of human waste into water bodies.
This e-portfolio is partial fulfilment of the subject Guided Learning.
