Learning Log 2

24 June 2021
10am - 10.40am
Microsoft Teams
The key points discussed during the meeting were:
-
Further areas that can be researched to ensure that research is thorough
-
Feedback of previously done research
-
Clarification of e-Portfolio requirements
What must be produced for the next session:
-
How can this project allow for a source of income for the villagers?
-
E.g. transport of bagasse and translation of the handout can be a source of income
-
-
What else can bagasse be used for that is beneficial to the villagers (provide a source of income)?
-
How can we (Temasek Polytechnic) benefit?
-
Can a formalised partnership be established?
-
-
Why is it important to test for nitrogen, phosphorous and ammonia?
-
How will it be tested?
-
If pH testing is required, explain why.
-
-
For the monitoring stage, if this project will teach a certain number of villagers and these villagers will teach a few others, how will you quantify it?
-
Draft of e-Portfolio
Read on for
the reflection!

Reflection of learning
process so far:
I think my research so far is adequate, however as pointed out by Mr Tan; there are still a few gaps in some parts of my research. While I did try to include the small details in my research as that was what I realised was missing after our previous consultation, I did not branch out and think of other questions related to my research. Therefore, this is something that I can improve on when researching, I should think further ahead to actively question my research to ensure that I have a complete view of what I am researching. I also did not consider how those carrying out the project would benefit from this project until Mr Tan mentioned it. This is logical to research on as an organisation that may partner with or sponsor this project would require some benefits in return. This is something that I will have to look into.
I started on my e-Portfolio and was able to gather some feedback from Mr Tan about what I have so far. For example, one of my components, a handout for educating villagers, could be double-sided instead to allow for more pictures to be inserted.
Overall, I think I can improve by taking a step back to look at the project as a whole and identify the major missing components before zooming in on each component to fill in the details. This would ensure that my research is complete, making my project more realistic and understandable.
